Role Description

As a key member of the executive team, The Chief Financial Officer will assume a strategic role in providing insight and guidance to the CEO/Founder on all financial and investment related activities for Mainstreet at the holding company level.  The CFO will play a lead role in strategic investment opportunities, deal analysis, acquisitions, and financial partner relationships along with oversight for accounting, finance, and budgeting.  By participating in leadership at the department and executive level, the CFO fosters collaboration with the broader organization and its efforts as a whole.

  • Works with the Executive Team to set financial objectives – both short and long term, while continuously evaluating plans.
  • Monitors financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, suggesting creative solutions.
  • Defines appropriate benchmarks, hurdle rates and other tools for objective evaluation of asset and division performance.
  • Promotes the company’s desire to create a positive impact beyond the bottom line, via their investment strategies.
  • Develops and advocates for overall investment strategies and specific opportunities.
  • Monitors markets, trends and anticipates risks and opportunities.
  • Participates as a member of the Executive Team including participation in management discussions regarding other aspects of Mainstreet and affiliate operations.
  • Provides periodic reporting on investment performance and all financial reporting as it relates to Mainstreet.
  • Manage, develop and mentor financial leadership team.
  • Guides the Mainstreet leaders to have the right resources, processes and metrics to execute their operating plans.
  • Participating in strategic sales appointments, acquisition discussions, and partnership opportunities, where appropriate.
  • Demonstrates honesty, responsibility, integrity and fulfillment of commitments.

What we’re looking for

  • Master’s degree (M.A. M.S. M.B.A.) from accredited institution and 15+ year’s relevant senior leadership experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience leading financial strategy from an organization with multiple entities is required.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions is highly desired.
  • Strong investment understanding, with experience raising capital.
  • Experience or exposure to fixed income/credit/commodities would be additive.
  • Active member of risk management committee; experience analyzing and communicating various types of market risk scenarios in collaboration with a risk manager and making informed decisions with the risk committee.
  • Comfortable managing legacy assets, including Venture Capital.
  • Ability to present financial outcomes and provide strategic and creative solutions.
  • Good listener; able to function effectively and calmly under pressure; proactive/self-starter while recognizing when discussion and approval by CEO and Founder is appropriate/required.
  • Able to address shifting priorities; flexible, adaptable while advocating recommendations and providing alternatives; willing and capable of engaging in thoughtful, spirited debate (often via email).
  • Conversant in applicable SEC and other regulatory/legal parameters that govern public and private investing; also in fiduciary and board governance responsibilities.
  • An experienced team builder with good interpersonal skills.
